The Wait Is Over: Exciting New Update V.04 is Here!

Long time since last update. Here’s a draft of what has been done so far. I hope to add more features soon.

  1. Switched to the ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server.
  2. Updated the dataset and column definitions to align with the latest scripts from Brent Ozar.
  3. Added support for sp_WhoIsActive by Adam Machanic, with a link to Adam’s GitHub for reference.
  4. Noticed that Brent’s sp_BlitzQueryStore.sql has been moved to the Deprecated folder, so I added own replacement. This new version supports hourly aggregated MS SQL Query Store statistics. To enable querying a specific database, I added a database selector feature. Simply click the “Refresh DB” button, then select your target database from the dropdown list.
  5. Since this project now incorporates multiple tools, I decided to rename it to Excel SQL Tools (ESQLT).

For those who missed the beginning: this is an MS Excel macro-enabled file designed to pull data directly from an MSSQL Database Server into Excel in an intuitive and user-friendly format.

This “Excel App” is a valuable tool for DBAs and database developers. It leverages powerful scripts from the First Responder Kit library by Brent Ozar, as well as the widely-used sp_WhoIsActive script developed by Adam Machanic.

The file is completely open, with no encrypted code, allowing users to customize and enhance it as needed. Have ideas for new features? Leave a comment with your suggestions for the next version!
