First of all, we need to understand what each component is.
CMS (Content Management System): Examples include WordPress, Joomla, Tilda, etc.
Domain Name: This is the main part of the address in a URL or the part after the @ sign in an email address. For example, in info@mydomain.com or https://mydomain.com/article01, “mydomain.com” is the domain.
Hosting: This refers to the space where your website or email will be located.
Email: This is usually an additional service you should purchase, or it could be part of the package you get with hosting.
From the diagram above, the main starting point is the domain. After obtaining the domain, you can choose an email service only, web hosting only, or a package that includes both email and web hosting.
From the diagram above, the main starting point is the domain. After obtaining the domain, you can choose an email service only, web hosting only, or a package that includes both email and web hosting. You need to acquire a domain from one of many registrars. The price to register a domain can fluctuate, but usually not by much. It’s advisable to look for a registrar with a good reputation and possibly a good package for you. As an example, I will show you Hostinger (I’m not affiliated with this registrar). The reason I chose this one is that you can get an “all-in-one” package at a good price. Yes, this registrar is based in the USA, and prices are in USD. Hosting is probably also in the USA, but the package price is quite affordable to start with.
They offer WordPress (one of the most powerful and popular CMS) hosting, 10 email accounts, an SSL certificate (HTTPS encryption), free domain registration for the first year, starting at just $3 per month ($36 for one year) if you pay in advance for one or more years.
In other scenarios, you will need to buy the domain, hosting, and email accounts separately and then connect all the “Lego” pieces together. Personally, I use email services from Google Workspace and ProtonMail.
Unfortunately, to get detailed information about Hostinger, I would need to purchase a service from them, which I have no plans to do. However, I am ready to walk through the process with someone and make screenshots for others.
This page probably will be updated later.
